COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for the Ethnic Minorities

    “The Lok Sin Tong Lee Yin Yee United Centre – Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities” organized a COVID-19 Vaccination Programme for the Ethnic Minorities today (20 June 2021), 68 ethnic minority members joined the program to get vaccination. Professor Sophia CHAN Siu-chee, JP, Secretary for Food and Health of HKSAR government and Mr Tull TRAISORAT, Royal Thai Consul-General in Hong Kong come to the Community Vaccination Centre in Kowloon City to support our program.

    Ms Alice LAU, the Chief Executive of Lok Sin Tong, presented that “Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has announced the launch of the “Early Vaccination for All” campaign on 31st May 2021. After the announcement, many of our ethnic minority members inquired how to take vaccination, make booking, the logistics and side-effect of vaccination. 76 members have booked the vaccination through our assistance.”  

    “To facilitate and encourage our ethnic minority members to get vaccinated, our Lok Sin Tong Lee Yin Yee United Centre - Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities organize a COVID-19 vaccination program for our EM members. We promote the program through social media, for example, facebook, WhatsApp and Line in last 2 weeks, there are 68 members has enrolled to the program.

    “Before going to the Community Vaccination Centre to take 1st dose of vaccination, our voluntary medical team provides a briefing and blood pressure to our service users. Most of our service users is working at restaurants or retail shops, as they need to get touch with different people every day, they would like to take vaccines to protect themselves, families and customers. And there also have 5 youngsters aged from 13 to 17 to join this vaccination program.”

    Lok Sin Tong Lee Yin Yee United Centre – Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities was established in 2012. It is a self-financed centre supported by Mr. LEE Shing Put, our 2018 Chairman, provides diversified supporting services to the ethnic minorities, for example, community resources, educational support, translation, employment and family counselling services to the ethnic minorities. Under the COVID-19 epidemic, we provides multi-language disease prevention resources, masks, COVID-19 tests for over 1,100 ethnic minority families.
